Dr BLT is a Canadian-born-and raised La Mesa singer/songwriter with a deep catalogue of tens of thousands of original alt country, folk rock and Americana songs, many influenced by the great pioneers of the Bakersfield Sound, like Buck Owens and Merle Haggard, including songs from his forthcoming album, “Twang Q Very Much.”
Dr BLT’s original music and use of music as a therapeutic intervention, was first introduced to the world in October of 1987, by Casey Kasem, on his world-wide syndicated broadcast, Casey Kasem’s American Top 40.
Under his full name, Dr Bruce L Thiessen, singer/songwriter, and Dr BLT was re-introduced to the world via his cameo on the band, Cake’s MTV-video-music-award-nominated top hit music video for the song, “Short Skirt/Long Jacket.”
Neither of these world-wide exposures nor praise from artists as huge and diverse as Buck Owens and P!nk, catapulted Dr BLT into fame as a singer/songwriter, but, as an “underdawg,” he has a loyal following and continues to release singles, EPs and albums on all major platforms a weekly basis.
